Appearence:
Delaney Cara Johnston is a girl who likes to change her appearance. So first, we can start off with her natural beauty. Thanks to her parents, Delaney has an exotic look to her, with darkish, tan skin and larger, intriguing eyes. Her eyes are a beautiful hazel. Her natural hair is dark, and used to be grown out long and thick. She has full lips, and her teeth, well they didn’t use to be perfect. But after a few fixings that thankfully happened before she entered the torturous high school, she has a pretty nice smile. Her skin is fresh and smooth, thanks to years of dedicated skin care.Personality:
One thing out of many that Delaney hates about her appearance, would be her nose. She claims it looks like that of an animals, although she can’t figure out which. No one else really sees it, but it’s one of those things that you look in the mirror and go “ugh”. Her nose has a slight curve upwards towards the end of it. The one thing that she likes about her physical appearance is her skin. She's proud of how clear it is, and having a permanent tan is like an added bonus! Her skin tone isn't as dark as others, since her parents are from different backgrounds. But it's in between, and a nice mixture.
One more important thing about her appearance would be her height. She is pretty tall, not towering over the others but she is tall. This has been good and bad. It was terrible back in middle school and freshman year when she was done growing and taller then all the boys. Very unfortunate. But now, a few years after, she's happy with her height. She isn't too tall or too short, and the boys all grew. She's happy with this medium. Some people point out her height, but it doesn't bother her anymore. Different is the normal, that's what they say.
Well different is what you get with Delaney, because her appearance has changed over the years a lot. Not physically, but what you can do to cover up what you naturally look like has gone through some drastic changes. Last year, she decided to go a very light brown with hints of blonde. She wore preppy makeup and did the usual - followed trends when it came to looks. But every morning she'd look in the mirror and wasn't happy looking like that, so this year things changed extremely. She bought some new hair dye and makeup and went her own way.
Meet the current Delaney, with fiery red hair. She didn't try to make it look naturally red, no, that's too simple. She made it bright and bold, to fit her. Her makeup varies from day to day depending on her mood. Some days she'll be tired and go almost natural. Some days she'll play up the heavy makeup. Some days she'll wear some sweet, innocent girly makeup to contradict her hairstyle. Some hate her hair, others may secretly admire it, others openly like it, but she's happy with it. For now, at least.
There are some parts of her you can't see though, of course. Well not all the time. So there's more to know. Delaney has her belly button pierced, twice actually. Once in her belly button, and once right above. She also has three tattoos. One near her hip bone on her front, that says Believe, it lets her know to never give up. Another that is called a tramp stamp, which is just a swirly design. Another on the side of her ankle, which is a fancy heart.
Delaney’s personality matches her style very well. She is outgoing, unique, and fun-loving. But sometimes, she can be a little dismissive or hurt. When she’s in a mood like this there is normally a reason, which she will never want to talk about. When it comes to being trustworthy and a good person to talk to, she’s there for you. But if you want to talk to her about her problems or anything, she won’t want to open up. She likes to keep her personal life personal, and although she may need help sometimes, she wouldn’t want to admit that. Approach her with caution if you want to talk about that stuff.History:
OUTGOING: This describes Del perfectly. She’s very, very outgoing in fact. If she wasn’t outgoing and another one of the pathetic sheep who follow the herd, she wouldn’t have had the guts to dye her hair such a bold colour or speak her mind or anything. Speaking her mind is something she likes to do, she’s good at standing up for people or things. Sometimes though, she speaks without thinking and things may come out wrong. She’s also got a back bone and a sharp tongue she doesn’t know how to hold if you rub her the wrong way. But she’s also a great friend.
FRIEND: You must know about how she is as a friend though, because she treats her friends and those she doesn’t like differently of course. Sometimes she’ll joke around with you, tease you if you tease her. But she’s very loyal, she’ll stand up for you, and she’s great person to talk to. She’ll be all ears. She can always feel for people, she has a great sense of empathy. She can also be secretive, about herself and also when you tell her things. She’ll keep it a secret if you tell her to. Unless your secret is going to cause problems with another, better friend.
UNIQUE: Yes, Delaney is a very unique soul. If she wasn’t fitting into the rebels, which is where she chose and is comfortable, she might be mixing with the hippies. She’s all for all that peace and love, love and peace, etcetera. Her style sometimes is a little hippie too, and the music she listens to includes her all-time favourite, Bob Marley. But at the same time she’s a little edgy, which is why she falls into the more unique category. Her personality mixes with those of other groups as well, though, besides the queen bitch and her slaves. She’s a little iffy towards them. She fits in with the druggies a bit as well, only because she does do drugs.
FUN-LOVING: Ever heard the song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun? Of course you have. Well Del may have taken it to the extreme. She loves fun a lot, but sometimes she’s not in the right mind. Her favourite activities include: hanging out with friends, drinking like mad – day or night, kissing – who doesn’t love kissing? She just so happens to be a good kisser as well. Added bonus? Nah, practice makes perfect. And also, drugs. She’s not a hardcore drug addict, but you’d be fooled by her if she told you she didn’t have a problem because she’s trustworthy. But she’s a little in love with the feeling of being high, even for just a moment.
DISMISSIVE: When she’s feeling down, it’s an approach with caution zone. For a couple reasons. One, she will not want to open up to you and if you try it may end badly. She’ll probably just walk away though. Two, when she gets sad she refuses to stay sober. She’ll get drunk or high. And this may mean trouble because it sort of enhances her mood. Sometimes she’ll be too bubbly, but other times she may get a little mad. But stick with her when she’s feeling down, because when she comes back up again she’s back to fun-loving, cheery Del.
Her history is a little complex. Her changes in appearance have already been explained, but there was a little more to it. The best thing to do is to start at the very beginning, well she was born. Her mother was dark-skinned and beautiful, tall and lean. Her father was lighter skinned, looked like a business-man all the time every day, and was even taller. This is, of course, where she got her height from. They were a happy couple for a while, and they raised Delaney for what seemed like six perfect years to her, but apparently was full of arguments behind closed doors. That year, Del had just turned seven, her father left her mother.Sample Rp:
He never came back into her life, but maybe it was for the best. (Well, it actually was not.) Little Delaney Johnston was so confused, fatherless. Where did her beloved daddy go? Her mother wasn’t too good at explaining, but Delaney figured it out on her own after a few years. But after she figured it out, there wasn’t much time to ask her mother about the details, because someone else came into their life. A boyfriend, a boyfriend of her mothers. And this wasn’t just any boyfriend, he proposed soon too. So this fiancé moved in, and Delaney was very unaccepting.
She was twelve years old when they got married and everything became official. He moved in and she hated him. That was official as well. She didn’t care if he was family, she didn’t need a step-dad. Let alone this one. Let’s tell you about Steve, or whom Delaney refers to as ‘that man’. Steve is even taller then her dad, he has scruff all over his chin and a pathetic moustache. He’s also pretty scary looking, but Delaney has no idea why her mother married him. After a few months, she began to accept him and stopped glaring at him across the dinner table. Things were looking up until she was finishing up grade 8, and she hadn’t cleaned the house.
She came home to find her mother’s car gone, she was still on a work trip and would be back in an hour. She entered the house, threw her bag done and flopped on the couch as usual. She whipped out her phone, texting her friends saying she was bored, let’s hang out, blah blah, when her phone was snatched from her palms. She looked up to see Steve, looking rather drunk (at this time?!), glaring down at her. Every time she thinks of this she can still remember him yelling. “You didn’t clean up! Get off your ass and do it! We have people coming over tonight.” Her mouth dropped open and he walked away, with her cell phone in his hands.
Who did Steve think he was? He wasn’t her father, and even her own father couldn’t talk to her like that. She got up and began talking, “Sorry I forgot. I’ll do it right after I finish my text.” She reached for her phone, and Steve threw his arm back. “No! No that’s not acceptable!” He began to scream insults at her, stupid girl… Stupid girl… The whole time she stood there in shock. This was not the same Steve that lived in her house for all this time. He was so different… She looked right past him at the empty beer bottles scattered around everywhere. She knew exactly what he was, an angry and dangerous drunk. But what she did next was not smart.
Delaney told him to stop yelling at her, and accused him of being the reckless drunk he was. But what he did next caused her to cry for the first time in years, she wasn’t much of a cryer. But this man raised his arm and back-handed her across the cheek. After that he threw her phone to the ground and left dramatically. She was so confused, and didn’t know what to do. When her mom got home, Delaney was in her room sobbing. Her mom yelled up the stairs that she brought home dinner, and Del could here Steve walk in behind her. She composed herself, she would pretend nothing was wrong then talk to her mom later.
Delaney pretended nothing happened for a few days, and never caught her mom alone. She began to panic, but then one day she came home and realized it was just her and Steve again. After a few hostile words and glares he had her pinned against the wall. That was when her life changed for the worse, he threatened her life and her mothers. He said that if he ever were to tell her mother about this and ruin the one good thing in his life, he would well, ruin her life as well. Forever. After he let her go, he ran his hand through his hair and said he’ll try and stop. She knew exactly what he meant, he’ll try and stop being some crazy alcoholic whenever her mom left for work trips. But they both knew that wouldn’t happen.
Her mother left quite a bit, weekends, etcetera. It turns out she was the thing holding him down, keeping him calm and sober. Every time her mother left for a weekend, he would start drinking heavily again. When she was here, he would have one, two beers max. But he was out of control with out her. And he always took it out on Delaney. But what confused her the most was how he could act like nothing was wrong after. He would even be nice to her when his mom wasn’t away. She sometimes wondered if he even remember what happened when he wasn’t sober, but tried not to think about it too much. But every time her mom goes away, she’s scared to go home. She becomes depressed, and that’s when the drugs and drinking get heavier for her to.
Delaney Cara Johnston was walking home from school, her eyes were glazed over and her lips formed a tight line. She wasn’t looking forward to this, but she had to come home. She had been wearing the same clothes for almost two days and it was time to change. Del had been avoiding the house, her mother was gone for the weekend and a couple days for work, and she knew what that meant: time alone with the dreaded stepdad from somewhere even worse than hell. She took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself. The only reason she had enough guts to drag herself home was because she wasn’t thinking straight: she was high.Celeb:
But she had to go home anyway, and she would much rather go home high or drunk than sober. She ran a cold hand through her bold red hair, and looked to the side. Her neighbourhood was somewhat empty, everyone must have something better to do. She kicked a stone along the sidewalk, watching it tumble ahead of her to a stop. It left a little scuff on the toe of her cowboy boot, but she didn’t really care or notice. She wasn’t one to freak over wardrobe crisises, which was a little overrated. Del rounded a corner, and her house came into view, she stopped, and grabbed hold of the lamppost on the grass. She turned around and leaned against it, thinking things through.
After a few minutes of standing in silence, she decided on going in through the front door and just pretending everything was normal. She hadn’t been avoiding him, he was just her stepdad, and he wasn’t going to talk to her or lay a hand on her. It all sounded good. She was content with this plan. Wasn’t there a saying, if you tell yourself something you’ll eventually believe it? Well she was starting to believe this. But before she entered the house, her fingertips reached into her bag, and she ran her fingers over the smooth surface of a full beer bottle. This would keep her company for the little time she would spend here. All she was going to do was get her shit and get out. Maybe find a place to crash. Or pass out.
She pushed through the front door warily, looking from side to side before slipping over to the steps. She placed her right foot on the step, and she thought that maybe he wasn’t home. With a sigh of relief she stepped up one more step, before a large and clammy hand was placed heavily upon her shoulder, bringing her forcefully back down the stairs. Scruffy Steve glared at her, with bloodshot eyes and a reek of alcohol. Did her mom not know about this? Did he clean up before she got back? Did he do this to her to? She didn’t want to think about it. Delaney gave Steve her most composed and innocent look she could, as if nothing was wrong. But he narrowed his eyes.
He asked, in a shout, where she was, why wasn’t she home, etcetera. “I was with my friends,” she said defensively. He continued to yell, that she had no friends. She didn’t deserve friends. He never saw them, they must not exist. Then, the usual happened. Her stupidly loose tongue let something slip, and it all started again. “Why would I bring anyone home to you?” She shouted back at him. But right after she did so she wanted to take it back. The slightest thing would irk him, let alone insulting him to his face. His face grew hard, and he shoved her, but not as forcefully as usual. It was almost pathetic, for him. But it still made her fall back against the wall a little. But after she regained her standing position, he didn’t hit her again as usual.
He seemed to be actually pondering the words she said. But right when she thought it was over, he walked up to her, towering over her. She felt defenceless, and too cowardly to stand up straight. He gave her another shove, but she caught herself on the railing. ‘I’m a good man, y’hear!’ He snapped, before turning and slamming the door. It shook the pictures on the wall, and she stared at the door that was shut in her face, speechless. Had she got to him? Was he considering his mistakes? This was a different reaction then usual… She spun on her heel and stormed up the steps. “Like hell, you are.” She mumbled, not believing he would change for another second.
