Ok, so since Beckett is a jock Kate will definitly go after him so she can climb the social ladder. I think maybe since she is so flirty with him, Beckett is naive enough to think that she actually has feelings for him and they start going out on dates. Than after Kate gets bored with him and has used him to get what she wants she leaves him. They then obviously become enemies because of that. What do you think? [/size]

Maybe they hang out a bit (not as dates) and she gives him some hope by flirting and what not; then he asks her out and she says no because she got tired of waiting? Or something like that.
