Appearence:

Despite her Irish heritage, Emily has dark hair & dark eyes. This is something she got from her mother who was native & Irish mixed. The Irish in her blood really only comes out in that no matter how much times she spends in the sun, her skin remains a sort of pale pinkish color.

There’s something about girls with really good hair, like how Emily’s cascades down to her mid back in gentle waves. It’s not cut completely even, with remnants of past placed layers & such. It tends to shine perfectly when the light hit’s it just right & luckily it’s not all mouse brown thought it’s never been dyed. There are some natural tones & highlights.

Her face held the same childish roundness that could easily be considered cute when paired with her personality. Her body, in contrast, was compact & piled with muscle on top of muscle from the tennis training she'd been up through over the years.

Personality:

Has someone ever asked you to define yourself? Perhaps, they have. Did you really stop to think about what you said before replying? Perhaps not. This is something that Emily has agonized over for several years.

Emily is a female human being. She's a tennis champion in the state ranking, a sixteen-year-old overachiever. She's a closeted lesbian trying to deny the truth. She's a lover of Trix cereal & anything involving hopeless romance. However, all of this only tells you what she is. Not who she is.

Emily is generally very grounded & down-to-Earth. Emily is quiet when needed & loud when desired. Emily is strong. Emily is smart. Emily is compassionate. Emily is shy. Emily is competitive. Emily is a romantic. Emily is careful. Emily is obedient. Emily is an asker of questions & seeker of answers. Emily is...confused about just that.

Who is Emily Anne Madden? It certainly can't be the girl that she sees in the mirror or can it? Is it possible for Emily to be all of what she is now that everyone else loves & everything she wants to be that she loves? Maybe.

History:

Our little Emily has quite a lot on her plate and always has. Since there very moment she could walk it was all about tennis. According to her parents and the examples set by her three older siblings, if it didn’t involve academics or a fuzzy green ball it wasn’t worth discussing. What’s a girl to do? Play & Obey until she can’t take it anymore. That’s what. It’s exactly what all three of her brothers did. If they could, so can she.

The Madden family is comprised of Karen, the mother/lawyer, David the father/College professor, Jacob the eldest son/chemistry major, Thomas who is second eldest/English major, Adam second youngest/Psychology major & Emily the youngest/only girl/closet lesbian/secretly aspiring actress/high school student. However that comes later.

As a tyke all of the children spent a lot of time on the court. This was because it was Karen & David’s thinking that their children should follow the aspirations they could not & because mommy & daddy played tennis almost every day. As each of the kids got older they started being pushed into the sport. After a bit of trial & error with Jacob & Thomas dear old mom & pop were pros at the iron grip of the racket. Which could only mean certain doom for Emily.

Spending hours & hours every day on the tennis court caused a great build & strong sense of self for Emily. For a little while but as we all know, nothing lasts forever. Around the beginning of middle school & the need to rebel from parental control Emily fell in with what was probably considered the popular crowd. Particularly a group of girls that were referred to as the fabulous four, whom included Jenna, Katy, Megan & Emily.

Jenna was what could be considered the leader of the group & had a pension for being bossy & manipulative. Her controlling nature matched against Emi’s parents, well needless to say there was some sneaking involved.

By high school the group had broken apart, but could never really stay apart because of the secrets that they all shared & what they’d done. Particularly what Jenna had made them do & what Jenna knew about them all. Also in high school Em was discovering something about herself that she wasn’t ready for anyone, even her best frenemy Jenna to know.

At the end of the year bash that someone had thrown in Freshman year, Emily was more than a little smashed & did more than a little kissing with someone. That someone was a girl from a different school. This was something that even though she was fairly sure the other girl didn’t remember she ever told anyway. If not for the fact that’s he wasn’t sure it was really who she was than to avoid the social humiliation of coming out.
When the schools merged as one Em knew her pas was coming back to haunt her. What she didn’t know, was how soon.
