Appearence:
Kali hates the way she looks to the point that she hates looking in mirrors. Whether people call her cute or pretty, it always seems to her like they are talking about her as if she were a little porcelain doll. Even when she was younger, she used to wonder why she couldn't be taller. Aside from her height, she is slim and not very athletic. She never liked exercise in the least, preferring to eat healthily than actually step foot in a gym. The one feature that Kali really likes about herself is her eyes. Though they are a boring brown, she always loved how they sparkle in the sun and how they look almost the color of chocolate.Personality:
Because of her Spanish and Filipino ancestry, her skin is tanned, sort of a mocha color. Somehow, the reason completely eludes her, it remains that way, no matter how much or how little sun she gets. She used to experiment, staying in the sun for long amounts of time or avoiding the sun for weeks. Her hair is a light brown, with lighter highlights. Her hairstyles vary based on whether or not she woke up on time. When she sleeps in (read: most days) she will straighten her hair, then rush out the door, but on days when she wakes up early enough, she will take the time to make her hair wavy.
Other than her hair, she will rarely spend any time worrying about what she looks like. She almost never wears any form of make up or foundation. To her, make up always felt like she was faking something, so she would rather skip make up than constantly feel like she was hiding. Even on other people, she felt make up was like wearing clown paint. She is very quiet about this though, knowing that others usually don't appreciate being informed that they look like idiots.
In general, the first impression of Kali is that she is bubbly, sweet and aggravatingly optimistic. She almost never judges others and is somewhat gullible. She is known for trusting others to the point of stupidity, and will do anything for her friends. At least, that's what anyone sees in her after talking to her for five minutes. Kali is quite convincing, it's hard to notice the flaws in her act. She tries her hardest to keep this pretense up, finding that people are less likely to pry further when they see what they want to see. But, like any human being, she slips up once in a while, like using sarcasm when she shouldn't or forgetting to look up when someone says that gullible is written on the ceiling, that type of thing.History:
Not many people ever see Kali as anything but the bubbly little sweetheart she acts like. Her brother, for one, know her well enough to see past the facade. Other than him, the only people she intentionally lets see another side of her are those she truly despises. To them she is as callous as she can possibly be. Beyond those, no one ever is shown who she is. Some people guess there is more to her than meets the eye, but none have succeeded in seeing past her act.
On the inside though, Kali is smart, sarcastic, and generally suspicious of everyone. When she was younger she let everyone see her for who she was, but soon discovered that is was easier just to pretend that she was stupid but adorable. It also made it easier for her, when people think someone is too stupid to notice little things or too trusting to ever reveal a secret, they tend to let their guard down. When she acted like a bubbly little girl, Kali was able to find out just about anything she wanted to know, the only hard part being asking without revealing why she wanted to know.
Kali grew up, for the most part, in France, with her parents and her older brother. Her father's job required him to move around a lot so Kali lived in almost every European country for a time, but France was her favorite, so she declared herself french. When she was five, Kali's family was devastated as Kali's mother died in a car accident. Around that time was when she began acting bubbly to hide how she felt, it was sort of unintentional but it became a habit. Though Kali was five when it happened, she still dreams about that day nearly every night.Sample Rp:
Beyond the death of her mother and the constant relocating, Kali's father tried his best to make sure that Kali grew up just like every other girl. He would play tea party and dolls with her, trying his hardest to make sure she wouldn't miss out on any experiences. No matter what game she wanted to play, he would participate, including "let's play princesses." Even though Kali grew close with her father, it was to her brother that she turned when she needed help. As she grew up, she could always count on him to be by her side, despite his annoying tendency to be overprotective.
When she was fifteen, her father announced that they would be moving to New York, Kali would be going to America for the first time. Kali was, to understate severely, ecstatic, until of course she discovered that America wasn't at all like it was supposed to be. "Land of the free" seemed a little more like "land of the fast food industry." It was the first time that she was glad to know she wouldn't be staying in a place, but unfortunately for her, her father's job decided to promote him, which meant one last move. California. Kali was used to America by the time she reached California, but she still wasn't exactly what one might call "patriotic".
Celeb:(from another site on which I played evelyn)
Evie frowned, eying Riley with disdain. Riley was everything Evie wasn't and for that she hated him. It wasn't so much that he was an arrogant snob as much as the way he continued to talk to her as if she was below him somehow. A scowl decorated Evie's usually cheerful face. She listened as he explained himself, well watched more accurately. She was ignoring what he said, just watching for signs of lying. If he could manage to pull off one explanation without lying, then she would just walk away, but the more probable situation was that he was lying and she would end up going out of her way to make his life miserable.
It seemed stupid, but Evie found herself not actually watching for signs of lying, watching instead as he drew pictures with his hands in the air and how he would look so earnestly into her eyes. She stopped that train of thought, instantly appalled with herself. I'm sick of him, she reminded herself sternly, sick of his lies and betrayals. Her eyes narrowed slightly and she gently placed her hand over Riley's mouth, silencing him. Knowing that any second now she would lose her nerve she opened her mouth and ... hesitated.
"Listen, Riley," Evie began, her face showing only determination, but her mind was still hesitating. There was no way she was going to say that he was just the worst thing that had ever happened to her and that he had completely wrecked her life, no. That would be too melodramatic. But she also couldn't forgive him. That would just end in tears and a repeat of this. No, it had to be something final. The words she had to say came to her in a rush, and she blurted them out before she had the chance to doubt them. "You lied to me. I can understand why, but it's over," she finished.
Her words seemed to hang in the air. She was regretting saying them with her heart, but her head was saying she was right. A pause. She took her hand away from his mouth and lowered her eyes to the ground. "Sorry," she murmured, then promptly bit her tongue. Apologizing too much had gotten her into this mess and, right now, she had nothing to be sorry about. For a second she considered taking it back, but didn't. She had said what needed to be said, and now it was time for him to leave her alone for once.
