Personality:
Now here's a true, blue farmers boy. Coming all the way down south - following his best friend and blood sister (only by blood exchange) Kaliska, this boy is definitely not like anything you'd ever see in the city. Despite the new city ways, the outback country life is still represented in this young man. Hair kept slightly long, and a brunette that shines slightly, Colt is keeping everyone off their toes by his southern boy drawl, and gorgeous country looks. His eyes are expressive, and are a startling blue color, crowned by thick, long lashes. Like any of the male gender he often is described to have eyelashes a woman would die for. His skin is tanned in the way only a farmer's can be, and he's well built, thanks for working on the ranch with his father. His arms are built to the point of being attractive, but not disgustingly buff, and he has a broad set of shoulders. His hips are rather narrow, and he usually wears his jeans to the point where they are snug. His hands are calloused and hard, and his belly, though rather flat, sports a six pack that comes from hard, but honest work. He's not one to take keeping in shape for granted either. He works out daily, though he doesn't do it for his own gain. He does it to make sure that he'll be in perfect condition when it's time to return to the ranch. Colton stands tall, definitely taller than most, at six foot two and a half inches, and weighs almost 175 pounds, all of it muscle, or so he likes to claim.
Unlike Kaliska, Colt doesn't have much of a rebellion side, and lacks any sorts of piercings, or metal objects sticking out of his face or skin. His philosophy, if God had wanted him to have metal sticking out everywhere, he would have made him a bull. However, that doesn't mean Colt doesn't have his own tattoos. For his sixteenth birthday, Colt and his twin brother, who is still working on the ranch in Texas, both got matching tattoos, on their shoulder blades. A tattoo of two guns crossing, and the family brand beneath them. (The brand being a D with a circle around it.)
Colt isn't much for dressing in what is fashionable and is often seen walking around in wranglers, cowboy boots, plaid or t-shirts, and a jacket. He often is seen sporting a cowboy hat as well. Along with his cowboy boots, however, Colt also owns a pair of brown moccasins, and a pair of black moccasins that go to his knees. And while this boy might still be holding strong to his country heritage - there's one thing that is obvious. It doesn't matter how far back from the boon docks you are, and according to Colt 'The ladies love countreh boys.'
You often hear about those boys who try to be the cowboys of the school. They buy the clothes, wear the hats, have the boots, but they always seem to be lacking something... Authenticity. Something that Colt has a lot of. Coming from Texas, this boy doesn't just walk the walk - but he talks the talk, wears the clothing. Every part of him screams 'country.' Of course; what few understand is just how good that is. Like most country boys, Colt was raised to behave a certain way. Around adults he's extremely respectful. Using 'ma'am' for the ladies, and 'sir' for the men. It's also not uncommon to see him treating any female with respect. He holds open doors, pulls out chairs. The small stuff that many men don't think of doing, yet all the women adore.History:
Colt is often, also described to be a bit laid back. He takes life as it comes to him. Living for today's satisfaction, and worrying about tomorrow when it comes. He is the sort of guy who will stop, and pull off to the side of the road, just to look at a specific view the scenery presents. Colton is the type of guy; however, that can become aggressive. This is a rare image for him, though, and is only witnessed when he witnesses a lady being disrespected, or hearing someone say anything bad about someone he cares about. He's extremely protective over his 'blood sister' Kaliska. And the first time someone dares to call her a name - do to her indian heritage - he won't hesitate to correct any wronging that might come to Kali's name.
Coming from down south, southern hospitality has been a constant part of his upbringing, as well as religion. Colt is a very spiritual Christian, not afraid to quote the Bible, or declare that God will have the answer, should you let Him help you and show you it. He's also the type to pray before every meal. He believes that all the answers come from god, and would rather follow the path chosen by god then attempt to embark on a trail ride with out the almighty. Being a very spiritual young man, Colt also attends sunday services, never forgetting them, and refuses to work a sunday.
Finally; the side that comes out only when you get to know Colt. It's been hinted at slightly, but Colt is a true Rancher's son. He rides like he was born in the saddle, and the mere thought of not being around horses is something that would make the boy go insane. Colt is the sort who will often skip school to go out riding. Not to mention the country blood in him makes him a dare devil. From his supped up truck, to his 'I'm countreh, and there ain't nothin' that's gonna bring meh down. I'm gonna go out there, and I'm gonna do this thing - even if it kills meh.' He's a very determined individual, and once he gets it into his head that he should do something, there is no way to talk him out of it. No way at all.
To some, Colton can seem to be the soft spoken sort. He doesn't really like to talk, and when he does talk, you can tell he is a man of few words. he speaks in clipped sentences, finding the best way to say what needs to be said in as little words as possible. He rarely raises his voice, speaking in a softer tone, because it has been proven that the softer one speaks, the quieter and more likely others are to listen to what you have to say, because they have to strain themselves to hear you. He isn't the sort to cuss, at least; not excessively. And finds it easier to express himself with his body language. He'd rather grin and give a nod then praise someone. His way of getting used to people, and thus he is unfamiliar with; is often like the way he'd break a horse back on the farm. Be nice, but always keep his guard up to make sure he isn't suddenly kicked in the head, or bitten at.
Now, comes, to a more interesting part. What Colt likes. Colton is a unique fellow, liking to be around animals more then people, able to connect with them in a faster way. But he especially loves horses. Riding them, watching them, grooming them. Anything. He just can't get enough of them - nor their wild spirit. He likes rain, as well, coming from the south were rain was often, and pleasant. He's not fond of the cold however, do to the fact he's not really used to it. He likes going on walks, and being a part of the out doors, though he'd rather ride through the country then take a walk through the park. Colton prides himself over his love for music. This boy can't just carry a tune, but he can play just as well. Talented on both the guitar and the piano, Colt likes to surround himself with music. Whether it is his, or just a band he likes. He's a large fan of country, as well, finding the music pleasing, do to his own 'back hills way.'
Now comes the dislikes, and should you desire to learn more likes, get to know the boy. You won't be disappointed. Colton doesn't often express what he dislikes, because he doesn't like to hurt anyone's feeling. In fact he'd rather be silent, and let others do what they like to do rather then upset anyone by declaring he didn't like that particular thing, and have to have everything changed. Colt does however not stand for any sort of rude ness. The moment someone dares say a single rude thing - be it to a lady, a gentleman, or perhaps a child. His parents put the idea in the mind of the boy, that insulting another, especially a lady; was not a tolerable thing to do, and now he refuses to let anyone do it in front of him. Colton also hates it when he sees any sort of animal being abused, or disrespected. 'Animals,' he often tells others, 'have souls too. Or are ya gonna just ignore that and keep takin' yer anger out on 'em?'
The youngest of a set of twins, born in the midst of a cold November, Colt was born a good four minutes after his brother; Dwayne. His father named Dwayne after his grandfather, and Colton was named after his mother's grandfather, the twin's middle names coming from their father's deceased younger brothers. The twins were born with the help of a midwife, do to their mother's hatred of hospitals (creating the fact that neither of the boys had gone to a hospital - except to get the necessary shots for schooling; and even those were done at a health clinic.) The boys grew fast in their first two years, though Colton was always the one trying to outdo his brother. Dwayne would crawl first, so Colton had to skip walking and go straight to running. Dwayne's first word was Mama, so Colton's was stawion. Which was the first hint to the parents at just how much Colton cared for animals. It wasn't till near his 2nd birthday that he'd managed to fall asleep next to a mare in her stall, that it became obvious - completely obvious - that Colton had a natural connection with animals. A connection that couldn't be broken.Sample Rp:
In his toddler years, some might consider the boy to have been active; though he was showing a laid back side to him already. The child wasn't often concerned about what tomorrow wound bring, and would live each day to the fullest - which usually included hanging out around the usual animals around the Ranch, leading his brother out to play. Going crazy in the way that only Colton managed to do.
When it came for school to start, it was the beginning of a whole new ball game for Colton and Dwayne. Coming from a wealthy family (thanks to the family ranch being one of the largest ranches in texas, if not all of the south) they managed to fit right in with the 'city folk' who they went to school with. Dwayne took to school like it was the best thing in the world, while Colton was quick to learn that he could easily pass by doing just a little above what was expected of him. Though he never did anything like cut corners - not till later anyways - he was smart enough to keep up with the class. School was never something that Colton liked. He hated to get called on, he hated the stuffiness of being in doors. He hated always having to be surrounded by people he didn't know. And most of all, he hated not being around the animals that always seemed to know him. Though - that all changed when he stumbled across a young indian girl from the near by reservation.
For Kaliska and Colton, their friendship had been immediate, or at least; that is what Colton says. He'd met her when he was walking along a river, and she'd dived from a near by cliff, straight into the river, and when she'd popped back up, they'd stared at each other in surprise, before Colton had demanded to know how to do that. Many might declare that it was Kali who turned Colton into a dare devil, by that one day of cliff diving, though Kaliska and Colt both agree that he'd had the potential locked inside, and she just managed to bring it out. Either way you look at it, the two forged an unbreakable bond that day, as Kali taught him to climb up the cliff and dive.
When Colton and Dwayne moved on to middle school, Colt was not pleased by the increase in homework. In fact, the boy was utterly put out by it. He kept up his studies though, often going to Kali after school to have her help him through homework he was confused about, or didn't know how to do because he wasn't paying attention. During the middle school years, Colt and Kali often got together almost every night, hanging out, walking, jumping off cliffs, and doing anything else they could think about doing.
When Kali had suggested they make their brother-sister bond become more real, Colton was also up for that challenge. The book that Kali had brought was one he'd never seen before, but he had brought towels (he figured they'd need it for the blood) while Kali brought a knife, and after she sliced her palm, he'd sliced his, and they joined hands, threading their fingers together and grinning in the way only best friends could, before declaring themselves Blood Siblings.
Of course; it was on this scene that the two had been discovered by their parents. Colton's father and Mother. Kali's parents. They'd both walked in at the same time, and the startled, dismayed shriek to discover their children playing, a bloody knife, and bleeding palms was almost enough that their friendship was to be cancelled, until Kaliska's parents recognized the ritual. After the parents sat down, and discussed the situation over, and decided as long as the kids agreed to never do anything like this again, they could still be friends; Kaliska and Colton considered themselves very lucky. And from that moment on, Kali was welcomed on the Ranch, and Colton was welcomed in her indian village.
When Colton was ready to start his senior year, Kali's parents were talking about sending her away to a city out of state, causing Kali to go to Colton with the problem. Desperate that they not be split up, declaring their friendship much more important, Colt talked to Kali and his parents about the possibility of him being allowed to go with her. After a few weeks of discussing, then working out the finer details the idea was agreed upon by both parties, and Kali and Colton were allowed to head to California for Colt's last year of schooling, and Kali's last two.
The days preparing for the drive to the airport, followed by the airplane trip to California, then the drive to the boarding school, were spent in total chaos, a chaos that left Colton unnerved. Only after his parents agreeing to finding a stable that would let him board his horse, Miiko; did he finally begin to relax, however and grow used to the idea. The days till the shipping off fell away quickly, until Colton's parents picked up Kali and her parents, and drove them to the Airport. The goodbye scene was a teary one as the two teens bid good bye to their parents, after her father growled that Colt better take good care of his little girl. They finally headed onto the airplane, and before they knew it, they were on their way to California.
The moment Kali saw the water from their airplane window, she'd declared a desire to learn to surf, and through her constant onslaught of ideas - and trouble they could get into - she kept him entertained. When the airplane finally landed, the two exited the plain to find a family friend to the Dawson's waiting to pick up Colton and Kali, and drive them to a school. Colton was amazed at all he saw, startled by the warm weather, pleased by the air. In love with the view of the ocean. This california looked like heaven. Or... at least it did, until he saw... the... school. Until that moment he didn't realize what a boarding school would mean... and with a grin, the boy began to plan the fun that he and Kali could have.
