Years after the creation of synthetic blood vampires have risen from the shadows to claim their place on the hierarchy of species. With the fear of a totalitarian vampire rule humans have sought the help of an underground group known as the Mercenaries. With the Nation on the brink of a Civil War, Sookie and Bill continue to feel an even stronger strain on their relationship, Eric feels the squeeze of the Authority and the Monarchs of the nation are arming themselves in fear.
