AIVAS does not exist, and the dragons still fight thread. This is how it looks to always be, and why not! Dragons need this purpose, as it is proven many times over in history. Yet, it seems it is a waning threat, as the star passes once again. Thread falls less often all the time now, and clutches are becoming smaller. A time of easy breathing is on its way.
Or is it?
"Look at how far we have come, Perdoth! The weyrs are behind us, and here we are, standing strong among these rebels. They will never take us back, not even if all of their proud riders come raining down on us. I promise you, Perdoth, we will become greater than any of those queens and those weyrleaders. THEY will come to fear us! They will fear the banner of the Onyx Rebellion!" - Onyx Command Second Ts'in
In these smaller clutches though, some odd dragons have appeared. Female bronzes are just the start... For the great golden queen lies dead from a thread fall tragedy. Something happened last thread fall, the last queen made her flight as it fell.
"Disgustingly spoiled Weyr riders don't even sense the real fire that is starting to burn right under their noses. They won't see until it is too late, and even then they won't understand it. Like fat herdbeasts, all of them, ready for a real butchering." - Rebellion Rider I'vyr
It wasn't that the queen was ignorant to the thread fall, the thread was not meant to fall at that time. The bronzes should have been fighting thread, but that instinct to fly the queen was stronger, and that urge took over. Thus Benecio dealt with a tragedy it was not accustomed to.
My sister hatched and proclaimed her dominance over the world. Mine and I stood to prove her wrong, but our lesson may not have gone far. No, she should never be permitted to rule his weyr if she continues on her destructive path. She will get hers killed if her arrogance continues to lead the way. No lesson should be taught that way, with the death of the one closest to you, but I fear if Arohth does not learn the error or her ways... It will be a dark day for the weyr if another of us is murdered under our nose..." - Blue Dragon Tsaoth
Her clutch of seven hatched... giving rise to a killer obsidian, who would go forward in leading their own rebellion against Benecio, sworn to destroy them who they believed to terrible. At the Onyx Outpost, it seems their first clutch has hatched some fine young dragons. With their growing numbers, and their increase in organization, they are becoming a foe to be reckoned with for any that try to crumble their foundation. However, not everything is well. There are whispers that the leader of the Onyx Rebellion has been going insane...
"The last hatching of Junoth has proved interesting, it's provided ample opportunity for me to transform this weyr with such young fresh minds to mold." - Obsidian Dragon Shadeth
Due to Benecio's relaxed standard on tradition, they have fallen out of favor of many other weyrs. The inhabitants of the Weyr were lucky to have a mature gold there at the time of the murder of their weyrwoman, else they might have been left with only two immature queens and their brownriding Weyrleader. The finger has been pointed on the Weyrwoman of High Reaches Weyr for the murder, but so far, there have been no acts of retaliation.
"Let them sing my praises from the highest mountains! I will be the one to save the queen! When this is completed, my Numiath, then they will praise me! They will say 'Glory to Hu'ar of Brown Numiath! His work has saved us all!'" - Brownrider Hu'ar
Life in the Benecio Holds is changing too, but with lack of communication in recent times, not much is known. Only one thing is truly known; The bronzerider Matthew is the heir to Dusktire Hold, and it seems he has plans to reclaim his birthright...
"I still get this feeling Pavoth shouldn't have won the last flight, I am worried for my life without valid reason. I've grown too far apart from the others here, any one of them could be my death now." - Rebellion Hunt Leader V'tier
And you have it! This is Benecio weyr, located on the Western coast. Can it cope with the deaths they have suffered? Can they regain the favor of Pern? Will the infallible weyr that has been brought to its knees yet again finally crumble and break under the strain? Or will the hope of its inhabitants coupled with the strength of its wings be enough to fight off the oppression of recent events and again see Benecio standing strong? Will there be a revolution? Does it truly have to be the darkest before the light, or will that light never come?
"It is getting harder and harder to just sit back and watch. Why has Nancee done nothing about Saarahs murder? High Reaches slapped our faces with that, and we do nothing. We should be demanding the life of their senior weyrwoman for the murder of ours, as much as it goes against my healers promise." - Healer Merrik
What will become of the Weyr of the Coastal Mountains... Only you may decide....
