Appearance:
Many people have said that Ethan possesses good looks. Of course, its difficult for him to listen to them, but the sentiment remains the same. With his modesty, he's also used his looks to his advantage; for making friends and things like that. He doesn't have a large nose, much to his enjoyment. When he's very happy with a situation a sort of half smirk will appear. He has blue-green eyes just like his mother; a fact which he absolutely loves. He has straight teeth, but only after a couple years of braces in junior high. He has a strong jaw that's usually covered with stubble or a beard, but it never gets too much worse than that.Personality:
Ethan has medium length brown hair. It's varied a lot over the years, usually staying at the same length. He keeps it behind his ears most of the time when its not too messed up. He doesn't really pay attention to what his hair looks like on most days anyway. On the rare occasion that he has to go to some sort of formal setting, he'll comb it and make it look nice and presentable.
The one aspect of his appearance that he actually does care about is his body. He enjoys running track so that definitely helps him stay in shape. He's built up quite a bit of muscle mass over the years of going to the gym after school to relax. Nate towers over many people standing at 6'4". His height has definitely helped him in the past when he played sports. He does rather enjoy standing above a lot of people though.
Ethan wears a lot of the same clothes. It's just because he likes what he likes and it's hard to change that. He wears t-shirts often, usually a solid color. Sometimes that's covered by a plaid button up. Most of the time he wears just the plaid button up shirt. It's his trademark, if you will. He likes to just feel comfortable with whatever he's doing so those shirts with a good pair of jeans are what he enjoys most.
Ethan is very relaxed for someone who's had to take on a mature role at a young age. He's a quiet guy who doesn't get worked up over most things. He likes to just sit around at a club or at a coffee shop and relax sometimes with people and sometimes alone. He's not shy, he just prefers not to talk sometimes. If the person is interesting enough, they can get him talking. He just likes to have fun and making friends is definitely a fun thing to him since he focused a lot of his energy on grades in high school.History:
He is also probably one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet. He is very chill about everything and likes to understand things. He doesn't really trust a lot of people, but give him a few drinks and he'll be partying with you until the break of dawn, that is unless it's the night before a big exam. He's never done anything too stupid though, that'd be beneath him. He balances this friendly lifestyle with being a good student pretty well, though sometimes it can get a little too grade-heavy for his liking; that's what being determined is all about.
Ethan's family is probably the most important thing in his life, especially in recent circumstances. Growing up, he was very protective of his brother and mother since they were his only family. This loyalty carries over to his other relationships. Though not as important as his family, his friends are very dear to him. Most of the friends he has he's had since he was very young, so they've grown up together and in some ways become part of his family. He is the type of person where if someone needed something, he'd do it for them without hesitation. This made it more difficult when his town was destroyed; he lost a lot of people that he cared a great deal about.
Being in a tough situation is nothing he's new to, but it doesn't ever get any easier. He's quite bitter about having to leave his hometown and he hasn't really dealt with his mother's death yet. Despite this, he's focused on the future. He knows his mother would want him to succeed in the things he's putting his mind to. Soon his optimism about life won't be enough to keep all the dark and daunting thoughts away from his head, but for now looking at things glass-half-full is how Ethan handles things.
Born February 17, 1990 to James and Christine Calloway, Ethan was welcomed into an already damaged family. His parents had been struggling ever since they said "I do". They tried to make it work for Ethan as long as they could, even having another son, Caleb, two years later. When he was three, his father had had enough of trying and left the family; seeking a divorce soon after. Ethan was too young to understand what it meant, he just knew that he didn't see his Dad nearly as often as he used to.Sample Rp:
The visits stopped when Ethan turned five, his fifth birthday party being the last time he saw him for a while. He never knew why, probably his father didn't want to deal with the hassle that having two boys meant. His mother did her best to provide for her two sons as best she could, even if that meant working two jobs and getting their grandmother to babysit. Ethan grew up a happy kid, despite his father leaving.
Seeing his mother struggle only made him mature faster so that he could help her out. He got his first job at age twelve, lying to the restaurant owner about his age. He kept a job continuously ever since, wanting to save up for college so his mother wouldn't have to worry about it. High school was a normal experience for him, though instead of playing a million sports he hit the books trying his hardest to get a scholarship any way that he could.
Graduation was an interesting day for him. His father showed up unannounced to attend the ceremony. After thirteen years without contact except for a few phone calls on birthday, it was a lot to take in. An argument ensued between the family and his father was gone again leaving nothing except a promise in Ethan's head not to ever treat his children like this. If his life could've been perfect he would've been going to an Ivy for college. He had actually been accepted into Yale, but because of his financial situation he chose to attend the local college on a partial scholarship. He still lived at home and worked the jobs he had to pay for his psychology degree. The first year of school went by without a hitch and Ethan was really catching his stride at school.
Then tragedy struck when the tornado touched down. Ethan had been studying in the library when it happened. He ended up having to stay the night in the Library basement with the people who had also been stupid enough to study during a storm rather than be at home. The next day he managed to get home to find that it was no longer there. He found his brother shortly after, but they found out their mother didn't make it. The news hit him like a ton of bricks; now in his mind he thought of himself as an orphan along with Caleb.
Moving wasn't difficult because most of his things had been destroyed and he couldn't get anything replaced since his family wasn't exactly insured. Now he's arrived in Central. Staying in one of the funded apartments, going to Central College, and trying to make ends meet again despite his scholarship not transferring and unemployment.
